A young Dutch tourist lost his life in a devastating road accident in Denpasar, Bali, on Tuesday morning, after his motorbike crashed into a truck carrying concrete. The tragedy has renewed concerns about traffic safety across the island.
The victim, a 21-year-old man identified only by his initials RJ, was traveling along Bypass Ngurah Rai Road in the Pemogan area when the collision took place at approximately 5am. According to authorities, the impact was so violent that the young man was killed instantly and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police reports indicate that RJ was heading east on his motorbike when a large truck turned left toward Griya Anyar Road, moving directly into his path. The motorbike struck the side of the vehicle, throwing the rider onto the road.
The truck driver, a 25-year-old man named Muchammad Fatkhurrozi, escaped the crash without injuries. Officers have confirmed they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Investigators stated that RJ was operating the motorbike without a valid driving license or vehicle registration. They added that he failed to keep a safe distance from the truck, which contributed to the fatal outcome.
Local residents who witnessed the crash immediately contacted emergency services. While waiting for authorities to arrive, witnesses covered the victim's body with banana leaves at the roadside.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in riding motorbikes on Bali's busy roads. Traffic conditions can become unpredictable, and visitors are strongly encouraged to hold proper documentation, wear protective gear, and remain alert to surrounding vehicles at all times.
